Plan A or Plan B?

So, to say I was a little anxious about moving to Kenya would be an understatement.
Chris was quite unhappy in his previous job and it was really starting to show. He had a long daily commute and was generally unhappy, and who can bear their loved ones being unhappy? Not me! So when he wandered into the lounge one evening and casually asked whether I fancied living in Kenya, I just said yes without really thinking about it (I was probably engrossed watching Cesar Millan) and nothing more was said.
As the days and then weeks passed by, the prospect of him getting a role in Kenya was becoming more realistic, at which point I began to panic somewhat. I had been to Kenya back in 1998 and hadn't really enjoyed it so much.
We put the house up for sale - and it sold! We started selling and gifting all our belongings (yes all of them) and they went.
And then Covid-19 struck!
I decided that this was my opportunity. I convinced Chris we needed a Plan B and after a good chinwag with my bestie Sarah, we decided to buy a CamperVan and go travelling. Hurrah, hurrah! He was called Zippy and became my "Home Sweet Home" for three months.

We had an idyllic time travelling through France, Spain and Portugal meeting up with friends and family, some of whom we'd not seen for years. It was my heaven - no responsibilities and total freedom. The seafood and red wine always readily available and ridiculously cheap. We visited lots of UNESCO sites and usually woke up with views to die for - generally life couldn't have gotten much better.
And then the calls from Kenya started coming in at which point I realised my blissful, nomadic life - Plan B - was going to have to revert back to Plan A - Kenya, at least for a while anyway!
So we allowed ourselves five days back in the UK to; visit family, sell Zippy, get COVID-19 certificates and pack the scant remaining belongings we still owned.
Off to Kenya then with my Bialetti and kitchen knives!
Wow, Sarah such an amazing blog - so eloquent and professional with such beautiful pictures - so thrilled you are both having such adventures and are so happy, sending love and hugs xxx
